ONE YEAR
Man, I have totally been neglecting the blog. I think it's mostly because I haven't been able to physically do anything about the wedding. But today is the turning point of all that! Why, you ask? Because today marks ONE YEAR UNTIL THE WEDDING! That's right, folks. June 2, 2012 I will become Mrs. Groom! That sounds so crazy, but I'm so excited for it! I've decided what kind of dress I want, and where I want to get married, but I haven't really done much. So I'm glad I'm going to be able to start soon. So it's a short post today, but I promise I will post more frequently.

Homes!
So now is where Jose and I start to look for houses/apartments to rent out. My parents had initially put in a bid for a property where they would rent it out for us, but it looks like that's going to fall through. I know, super bummer. Some lame property line crap. Anyway, this brings me to what I even want my home to look like (on the inside of course). I love IKEA, but I don't want to end up looking like some lame IKEA catalog. But it's so cheap we'll probably get a lot of our furniture there. The problem that Im having is direction. I like so many different styles that I can't settle on one, and I can't combine them because then it'll look ridiculous! Here's what I'm thinking:
If you haven't already noticed, I have mostly simple taste :) Next time I'll show you what we're thinking about for our bedroom!

Rant
This is my little rant for the day. Or week.
I am related to some of the most selfish people in the world. It is not a big secret that I have a lot on my plate right now; from school, to my internship, to my job, to my graduating soon, and finally to planning my wedding. Not only do I not need any unnecessary drama, I do not want it. So when my family members (who will remain unnamed) decide to place even more stress on me, that is when I snap. And then when they tell me that I am not their equal, that they are better than me, that is when I draw the line. I would never even say something like that to a freaking stranger, let alone FAMILY. And not only do they blame me, and Mr. Groom for something uncontrollable, they refuse to take responsibility for THEIR actions. So this is the breaking point. The point when I not only exclude them from being involved in the wedding, I exclude them from being invited to the wedding, and furthermore, exclude them from my life. How dare you treat me in such a way when I have done nothing but welcome you with open arms regardless of my immediate family's warnings of your incessant crazy psychotic episodes. And how dare you point the finger at me when you have nobody but yourself to blame for shipping that self-centered, high maintenance, prima donna to my home after she decides she wants to "party." And how dare you bring me nothing but stress and drama since day 1 I invited you into my life, despite the warnings. Do not ever contact me again; I am completely done with your two-faced, pompous, melodramatic bull crap. I can now see why you've exiled yourself away from the family: Because You Are A Shrew.
That is all for now.

I'm So Late!
I KNOW I HAVEN'T WRITTEN IN AGES! But I swear it's because I had my engagement photoshoot and I was afraid I'd leak some photo's before my engagement party, which was AWESOME by the way! So the engagement photo's are so amazing. I just have a few favorites such as…
and…
andddd…
That one is funny and I love it :) I also love…
That one is my favorite without the horses :)
That one's my favorite with the horses :D There are plenty more on my facebook (see link on the side of page) if you'd like to see them :) The party was so much fun despite the rain early in the day trying to scare me lol I'll tell you more about that later when I get some highlighting pictures :)

Scream For It!
I knowwwww I'm soooo late in getting posts out! But I promise I've been super busy. School has been kicking my butt. But at least the semester is almost over! So Mr. Groom and I have been getting ready for our engagement shoot on THURSDAY! WOO HOO!

Ok well that will not happen, but that's funny! The pictures will be a surprise for everyone, but here is a little hint:

That's so awesome lol Everything is coming together for the Engagement Party, except one minor detail. People are lacking on RSVPing! Either they're taking forever to RSVP, or they think I can read their minds. COME ON! I need to tell the baker and caterer how many people! And yes, there will be a dinner. If people RSVP… Anywho, that's all the update for now!

What Rhymes With Orange?
I know I haven't posted in a while. Things have been super busy with school and engagement things. School is stressing me out! It's coming to the end of the semester, so I'm piled up with homework and projects and papers. At least the semester is almost over. On top of that, Friday I went to the hospital for intense stomach pains. They were haunting me for about 3 days, so I was worried. Apparently, the fast was the worst thing I could have done since I suffer from gastritis which essentially means that I have a very sensitive stomach. So I'm taking medication for it, and I've been resting since then. On a brighter note, THE ENGAGEMENT PARTY PLANS HAVE COMMENCED! Yay…

No, but seriously, YAY!

I've already gotten the invitations, and they go out tomorrow :) I have ideas on decorations and stuff of that nature. I've got an appointment to meet with the cupcake lady, and had a meeting with the flower lady. Only thing I pretty much have left is to decide on a caterer! Everything is so AWESOME! So I will leave you with the awesomeness of this all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Today is Mr. Groom's birthday!
Yay! It makes me wanna do a million flips!

He's such an amazing guy! I love him so much! I hope he likes my gift! Which brings me to my next point, even though it's not related in any way at all. I think it's kind of funny how people you never talk to suddenly realize you exist when its your birthday. Its like, hey person I never talk to for the other 364 days of the year but thanks for the birthday wish. If you don't talk to me on a normal basis, maybe you shouldn't be wishing me a happy birthday. Or if you haven't been my close friend in a while, don't bring out old jokes for my birthday. Don't call me by a nickname you used to call me when we hung out everyday, if I haven't seen you in a year. No thanks. I'm not a birthday bahumbug. I just feel there are certain protocols to abide by. BUT HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR. GROOM! LOVE YOU
Now to start another rendition of Weird Wedding Wednesdays! Woot Woot!
I don't know about any other bride's, former bride's, or future bride's out there, but I want to consider myself, and my wedding classy. So this is why I'm like, "what the heck is she thinking?" with this bride.
Seriously? You shouldn't be jamming your finger up your nose on your wedding day in the first place, let alone in a freaking wedding picture. Do that in private, lady.
I'm keeping it short and sweet because TODAY IS MR. GROOMS BIRTHDAY!

MONDAY MADNESS
One of the things I really hate, is having a pretty awesome (or even moderately awesome) weekend, and then Monday comes. But what I do have to look forward to in this week and coming weeks is super mega awesome.
1. Mr. Groom will possibly get that police job because a close friend of ours, who is a police officer and high in the rankings, is pretty much best friends with the police chief of that unit. SO YAY!
2. Engagement photo session is coming in a couple of weeks. I found an amazing photographer I love for a great price, and he's willing to do the idea I had. Woot Woot!
3. Engagement party is coming soon too!
4. And the moment you've all been waiting for… THE PROPOSAL VIDEO! It finally came in! And I am SO EXCITED! Now I know what he said! So here it is:
Isn't he the absolute best! Best future husband ever!

Fasting Sucks!
I know its supposed to be Friday Funday, but I'm not in a very fun mood. Like I said last night, I am currently fasting. I am on day 4 of a 10 day fast. I am almost halfway done with my fast. But it's still super hard. Now that I'm not eating food, food is everywhere. Even my senses are heightened. I smell food people have cooked 2 days ago. I hear food being cooked. I see food in a more appealing way. I see food everywhere! The majority of commercials on TV and radio are about… FOOD! Even when I drive down the street there's freaking advertisements about food everywhere. I'm even planning my first meal when I start eating again next Friday.
Oh my goodness that looks glorious! Buffalo chicken salad! I can taste it nowwww!
By the way, no, I'm not a crazy person. I'm just really freaking hungry.

Thursday Things!
Hello lovelies! Today is yet another Thursday which means Thursday Things to Know About Mr. Groom! Woot woot! Ok, so Mr. Groom is my super hot fiance who I love to death!
See how hot he is! Anywayyyy, so Mr. Groom is an awesome drummer. But he also has realistic career goals, because lets be honest, there's no effing way a guy can support him and his wife while playing weekend gigs for 100 bucks a pop. If that. So Mr. Groom is currently in the process of becoming a police officer. YEAH! That's something a girl can be proud of! He is taking his physical abilities test on Saturday and then applying to a local police station. So in lieu of that, I am on a 10 day fast. No food. For 10. Whole. Days. GAH! But anyway, I know he LOVES the concept of him being a police officer, and I am so proud of him! I know, nothing gross today. Ha! But I thought everyone should know how awesome he is!
Oh and I know I forgot the weird wedding Wednesday, but just wait for it next week!

Tuesday Treats!
I am a bride who does not like the beach and/or beach weddings. I live in Miami, so the beach is a common thing, which makes it get really old really fast. But one other reason I freaking hate the beach and/or beach weddings, is because of this:

Yeah, no thanks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a bridezilla or anything, but there's just some things I will not compromise on. And for those of you who are a bride, here are some simple ways to NOT become a bridezilla.
1. Focus on WE, not ME!
Mr. Groom and I are intent on making this OUR special day. I've compromised with him on some things, and he's compromised with me on some things. For example, I'm letting him wear his (new) converse as his shoes. As long as he dances with me. FYI, Mr. Groom hates to dance. But he PROMISED he'd dance with me. When it comes down to making more plans, I'm going to ask Mr. Groom for his opinion on EVERYTHING, even if that means dragging him everywhere (except for my dress!)
2. Please your parents.
If my parents are going to pay thousands of dollars for a wedding, they better get some satisfaction in it. This doesn't mean making it THEIR dream wedding, but it means incorporating things of their interest. My mom HATES my tattoos on my back. And since I will most likely be wearing a strapless gown, my mom has asked me to cover my tattoos with makeup. I'm okay with that. I love my tattoos, but it'll make me feel good to make my mother happy.
3. Just Have Fun!
This day is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. Why ruin it by being a bridezilla? I know when the planning comes and finally the big day comes, the most important thing to me won't be what color the flowers are or how big the cake is; it's going to be becoming Mr. Groom's wife and having fun while doing it. So just relax and enjoy the ride!

Sunday Spectacular!
My cousin from Texas left today :( We had an awesome time. Yesterday was a very busy day. Cousin and I went to the beach in the morning for a couple hours to tan because being tan is better than being pale. I honestly do not understand some of the people the go to the beach. Like, what the heck were you freaking thinking?! I saw way too many nipples for my taste. After a nice nap and tan on the beach we walked along Lincoln Rd to find a place to eat and we found one! It was some random thing, and I enjoyed a lovely yumminess of falafel! I'm getting obsessed. Its so amazing (and slightly healthy). Afterward, cousin and I headed to Mr. Groom's house to shower and change for a very-not-so-exciting-yet-somehow-ended-up-being-exciting trip to the local mall. Shopping is fun and I found some cuteness. Nothing that exciting, but cute nonetheless. We returned to Mr. Groom's house to change yet again for our awesome night out. Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in the Grove and it was fuhmazing! Mr. Groom's friend tagged along and it was very funny and we all laugh jollyly! After dinner we walk around the grove for a bit and decided to swing by bayside where mostly everything was closed. It was getting late anyway, so we left to go home. Talk about an exhausting ride home! I'm so glad I didn't fall asleep at the wheel! Anyway it was so much fun, I just hope it can happen again!

Friday Funday
I know I know, I'm late. But I was just having toooo much fun this Friday! Today my cousin Katie (from Texas who came in Thursday) who is a bridesmaid, and my friend and maid of honor Lindsay took the day to relax. We ate lunch at an amazing mediterranean restaurant in the Gables called Pasha's. GO THERE. It's amazing. If I could, I would have them cater my wedding! But they don't cater such large events. Boo! Anyway, after a nice lunch of falafel (my faves!), we headed to David's Bridal! You'll love David's Bridal!!!! I did, too. The people were so nice and interested in how Mr. Groom proposed and everything. They put me in a few dresses, some I liked, and one I loved. I never thought going in I'd like a dress like it, but I did. It makes me look like a princess! So we got through with them and we headed to Alegria's but they were behind schedule and we couldn't wait. So we left promising to reschedule (we won't) and went to Barnes and Noble where I purchased an amazing wedding planner book. SUPER HELPFUL! Anyway we went to our next appointment at Coral Gables Bridal. DO NOT EVER GO THERE! The people are super rude, the dresses are overpriced, and the experience is not pleasurable at all. I felt like the consultant hated me, and she was rushing me like crazy. I didn't enjoy it at all. Anyway, the wedding planning for today was AMAZING (for the most part) and I can't wait to do more! That was my Friday Funday. Maybe I'll have something more interesting next Friday!

Thursday Things: Mr. Groom
To start off the first Thursday of my engagement, things to know about Mr. Groom. Obviously for ridiculous psycho ladies and/or men, I will not use his name. He is Mr. Groom. Mr. Groom is an interesting man. He is all man, and all little kid on the inside.
One thing about Mr. Groom everyone should know should they ever meet him: Mr. Groom picks his nose incessantly. He does not care who you are or if you see him do it, he will pick his nose. He picks it to the point where he stares at the boogers that end up on his finger, and sometimes plays with them. I know ladies, quite a catch, but he's all mine! I know it's kind of gross, and I constantly yell at him for doing it (especially in my car!), but I love him. Even if he picks his nose!

Weird Wedding Wednesdays
Now to start my readers (so few so far!) off on something funny, I think I'm going to start a thing called "Weird Wedding Wednesdays." This is where I find amusing photos of something ridiculously weird while sticking to my theme on weddings. Duh. So to start off, I picked a funny photo.

Apparently the bride in this photo asked her new husband to touch her face during a sentimental part of the song. THATS WHAT YOU GET! What kind of weirdo says "touch my face"? He is apparently not a sentimental-seen-it-done-in-the-movies kind of guy. Next time, be a little more clear. Now I know what NOT to do!

Congrats All Around
It's only been 2 days, I know, since the question was popped. Since I went from girlfriend to fiance. I've been congratulated by so many people I can't even count that high. Friends, acquaintances, family, even random strangers I swear I've never seen before in my life. And now that the time has happened, I'm sitting here wondering, where the heck do I start?! For now, my list is small.
1. Tell everyone (that's my favorite one!)
2. Get the video of the proposal from our pastor
3. Look for photographer's to take engagement photo's (affordable for me to pay for myself)
4. Select a date for the wedding
It's going okay so far. I'm doing an awesome job of bragging about my engagement to everyone (sorry if it's getting irritating), hopefully the video will be given to me on Wednesday, if not soon. I've gotten a few names of photographers, unknowing their prices, and the date is being discussed with our families.
Keep watching out for dates and other wedding related information!

Celebration and Day After
I woke up this morning very tired. There was so much celebration last night from my new engagement It was so awesome. Mr. Groom treated me to a wonderful lunch of 'On the Border' (I wanted it so bad because our church sermon that day had salsa in it). We tried to go tell his parents of our engagement, but his parents weren't home. We told his brother and sister-in-law though, and it was a wonderful reaction we got. So we couldn't wait any longer for his parents (it was almost 5 o'clock and they were an hour and a half away) so we left to go back to my house. My parents were just getting home from Bike Week in Daytona, so I had told my mom over the phone, but this was the first time she saw the ring. My stepdad wasn't back yet, but my mom was happy (adamant about us waiting a little while before getting married). So we did the horses as normal, and when we go home from the horses we just chilled out. My stepdad and uncle finally got home and we broke the news to them. They were very excited, and pretty much had an identical reaction to my mom. So in celebration we all went out to the Olive Garden, with a toast from my stepdad. I was surprised at how well he was taking it, he used to not like Mr. Groom. But now he likes Mr. Groom more than me! SO after awesome food was eaten and the drinks were drunk, we made our way back to my house. Mr. Groom and I went to my room to celebrate in privacy… with a wild game of MarioKart! I kicked his butt. Before we knew it, it was 1 o'clock in the morning! So he left to go to his house, and I fell asleep. And when I woke up, I had this gorgeous engagement ring on my left hand! It finally hit me I was engaged, and I had a fiance! It's so amazing. I can't wait to see the rest!

Church, Surprises, and Bling
So lets face it; we all want that fairy tale romance. The one girls fantasize about since they were little: tall, dark, and handsome, riding in on a white horse, yada yada yada. Needless to say that's not exactly how most people end up. Most of them get their "fairy tale," just not exactly like that. We all want that one person who will stand by us no matter what. I finally found it! :D
Mr. Groom proposed earlier today, Sunday, in church, in front of our entire church congregation. He has made me the happiest girl in the world. So here's the story:
Church is a big part of our life. We met at church, we built our relationship on God and prayed together and separately before deciding we were the one meant for each other. I knew something was up today when he told me I needed to drive to church myself since he usually picks me up. But when he told me he was upset at Brandon (our pastor), I didn't know why and I didn't think much of it. Church continued as normal; the worship was great, the message was great, and we had a great time. At the end of the message, the band went up to do a commitment song. The lesson was about love, and after the commitment song, our pastor Brandon stood to give the announcements. But when Brandon said "And speaking of love, my good friend and our campus drummer has an extra special announcement," I knew for sure something was going on. He always tells me everything, and he didn't tell me anything about him making an announcement. I had this look on my face like, what is he doing? So he stands on stage in front of God and everyone else, and makes a speech. He spoke about him coming to our campus in June of 2009, and how he met me and how amazing I was (I know, I know, what was he on?). He then went on to explain how he loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me. By this time, he's standing in front of me, and it hits me what's going on. I start bawling. He got on one knee and held out a beautiful ring, and asked me to marry him. I was speechless. I was crying. Finally it hit me that I was supposed to say something, but I could because I was crying, so I just nod my head a lot and hug him, crying into his shirt. The whole church congregation erupts in applause and is so taken by surprise (along with myself). Needless to say, I said yes. Next up: I do. No date set yet, but I thought it'd be a nice way to start off a great engagement.
